Schwer, süß und klebrig breitet sich Banu Çiçek Tülüs Klanginstallation in der Galerie im Turm aus. Dumpfe Bässe schwelen durch den in pinkes Licht getauchten Raum. Ab und zu flirrt ein leises Klicken durch die Luft. Ein schwaches Leuchten zieht den Blick tiefer in den Raum.
Im Rahmen ihrer künstlerischen Praxis spürt Tülü körperliche Rhythmen auf, um zu untersuchen, wie sich diese unter dem Einfluss externer Rhythmik verhalten. Für die Ausstellung Pink Noise zeichnet die Künstlerin eine von HP-Viren geprägte Klanglandschaft auf. Sie übersetzt die intime und häufig tabuisierte Erfahrung einer sexuell übertragbaren Infektion (STI) in eine kollektiv wahrnehmbare Klanginstallation. Dadurch macht Tülü auf eine der am häufigsten auftretenden, gleichzeitig weithin ignorierten STIs aufmerksam und öffnet einen Raum für den Austausch über Themen sexueller Gesundheit.
A heavy, sweet, sticky atmosphere pervades Galerie im Turm: deep, biotic bass reverberates within the pink-lit room. A soft clicking flickers through the air every now and then. A pale light draws the gaze deeper.
Within her artistic practice, Banu Çiçek Tülü uses sound as her primary medium. She grasps bodily rhythms and extracts them sonically in order to investigate their relation and reaction to external rhythmic influences. For Pink Noise Tülü recorded a soundscape, that was triggered by an HPV infection. The artist translates the very private and often tabooed experience of having a sexually transmitted infection (STI) into a collectively perceptible sound installation. Thus, Tülü aspires to draw attention to one of the most common, yet widely ignored, STIs as well as to open up a space for an exchange on topics of sexual health.

BANU ÇIÇEK TÜLÜ (Adana/Türkei, 1984) ist eine in Berlin lebende Künstlerin, Forscherin, Musikproduzentin und DJ aus dem Bereich des Städtebaus und -design. Ihre Konzepte ergeben sich aus dem Einsatz von Klang und dem Anwenden klanggebundener Methoden. In ihrem praxisbasierten künstlerischen Ansatz setzte sie die kulturelle und politische Vorstellungskraft als Werkzeuge für sozialen Wandel, Partizipation, soziales Design, feministische und Queer-Theorie. Tülüs Arbeiten werden meist in Form von Mehrkanal-Video- und Klanginstallationen und skulpturalen Elementen präsentiert. 2022 brachte Tülü ihr erstes Album TransSoundScapes heraus. Für die Künstlerin die Platte eine Übung in weiblicher Solidarität zwischen ihr, als Frau mit Migrationsgeschichte- und erfahrung und ihren Schwestern der Trans-Community.
BANU ÇIÇEK TÜLÜ (Adana/Turkey, 1984) is an artist, researcher, music producer and DJ with a background in urban design from South-East Turkey based in Berlin. She develops her ideas and research by using sound as a primary medium and sonic methodologies. Her practice-based artistic approach involves participation, social design, ecology, feminist and queer theory which uses artistic, cultural and political imagination as tools for social change. The process of the artistic production is the crucial and it is mostly presented as multi-channel video and sound installations, sculptural elements and various objects. In 2022 Banu released her debut album TransSoundScapes. The album is an exercise in female solidarity between her as a migrant woman with her sisters from the trans community.

Die Galerie befindet sich im Erdgeschoss und ist über eine mobile Rampe mithilfe des Aufsichtspersonals erreichbar (030 – 4229426). Der Anschluss an öffentliche Verkehrsmittel befindet sich in 300m Entfernung gegenüber der Galerie (U-Bhf. Frankfurter Tor, als barrierefrei ausgezeichnet). In der Galerie gibt es keine Toilette. Die nächste öffentliche und rollstuhlgerechte Toilette ist 850 Meter entfernt: city Toilette, Eldenaer Str. 12A, 10247 Berlin.

The gallery is located on the ground floor and is accessible via a mobile ramp. The exhibition guard will help you (030 – 4229426). Next to the gallery (300m) is the barrier-free subway and tram station Frankfurter Tor. There is no public toilet in the gallery. The next public and wheelchair accessible toilet (850 meters away): city Toilette, Eldenaer Str. 12A, 10247 Berlin.
Main languages in the exhibition are German and English. Exhibition texts are available in both languages. There are visual, auditive and tactile aspects that can be experienced.
