FURTHER INFORMATION:
Over the course of two days, we will work with Tarot reader and artist Pêdra Costa. We will spend time learning about the 22 Arcana, their history and significance. After choosing which Tarot archetype(s) we feel most connected to, we will work on practicing our categories in connection with them. This will be a collaborative, experimental and exploratory process. Ophelia Laveaux will DJ for us. By the end of the series we will have a rough outline of a performance art piece.
This could become a performance which we pitch to theatres and art houses with Pêdra. This could be a way for you to learn about Tarot and the Arcana. This could be an opportunity for you to deepen or expand your understanding of your category. This could give you a framework for applying ballroom to other aspects of your life and vice versa. There are many possibilities and directions, what you take from the workshops is up to you!
On Saturday Baidy Emma Pier will be hosting Berlin Ballroom Brunch, where we showcase and share what we learned with the wider community. Come and meet the artist, learn about the Arcana, and nurture the witchy spiritual side of your performance!
Pêdra Costa is a performer, Tarot reader and visual and urban anthropologist. As an anti-disciplinary artist, they bring together body practises, visual arts, video, writing, and electronic music. Their practice merges academic research, body arts, and spiritual technologies. Engaging embodied and invisible knowledge, Pêdra draws on queer and ancestral wisdom, decoding violence and amd transforming failure whilst mobilizing the potencies of art and life as integral to anti-colonial necropolitical survival.
