My voice’s name is Reveal and on behalf of Storyline, it is my pleasure to welcome you aboard with service from Battlefields to Roborders. We are in line for take-off and are expected to be in the air in approximately ten minutes time. Thank-you for choosing this Storyline. Enjoy your journey.*

Matihu Bùi’s new video work reveals a storyline providing access to the world’s “smart” borders, giving insight into fully autonomous systems tested there – from biometric data collection and algorithmic “risk” assessment to automated voice recognition. fromBattlefields toRoborders takes off from the violent origins of border technologies in war zones and lands at a critique of a lack of transparency, law regulations and control mechanisms regarding their usage today. At the center of the journey are stories of the lived realities at these borders; the destination is a different world through resistance and solidarity.

fromBattlefields toRoborders is the fifth part of the exhibition series
– conceptions of (extra)terrestrial worlds between reality and fiction.
